Green Bay Botanical Gardens expands children’s garden
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – With help from the Green Bay Botanical Garden’s Nature Nurtures Capital Campaign, the existing children’s garden will be expanded.
The project will expand the existing kindergarten from half an acre to two and a half acres.
Features include several adjoining treehouses, a jumping mushroom, a woodland play area, and a wading pool.
Organizers say they have already raised $ 9.5 million and are now asking the community to help them raise an additional $ 2 million.
“The last two million is always the hardest, that’s why we’re reaching out to the community to help us, to bring us home for this, to complete this project,” said Kathy Hartman, Garden Chair and Co-Chair of Nature Countryside Nourishes. “They can go out into the gardens, they can contact the executive director. If they want to contribute there are many ways that people can contribute over a number of years, we have nomination opportunities that are still available. Or any amount someone donates helps.
Work will begin next spring and should be completed by 2023.
