The sudden death of the Bollywood singer KK during a concert in Kolkata, West Bengal has left his fans shocked and angry. As Kolkata Police launched the investigation, the event management company provided detailed clarification of the issues raised by KK fans on social media.

BlackEyed House, the company behind KK’s live performance, wrote, “We would like to state in advance that our role in the whole event was to coordinate the artists. We have had a very special bond with KK sir over the years and are shocked by his sudden passing.”

The event house said that there were a lot of questions directed at their company, so they decided to give some justification for this.

In the first air conditioner query, the company said the air conditioners were running at full capacity. After news of KK’s death was announced, reports surfaced online that KK felt uncomfortable during his performance at Nazrul Mancha Stadium because the air conditioners were turned off.

However, the BlackEyed Event House said: “Nazrul Mancha has a specific seating capacity, but few more people are forced into the auditorium. It is very obvious that the auditorium having installed air conditioning for a specific capacity of people cannot work properly when the crowd exceeds the capacity.

The venue was chosen by the college authorities and we have nothing to do with choosing the venue or managing the venue’s infrastructure.”

Further, on issues related to forced entry during the show, the event management house stated, “Yes, there was a forced entry into the auditorium. From the outer door to the door of the auditorium there were bouncers and police forces as well as the student union who tried their best to actively manage the crowd but the crowd was beyond their expectation and the crowd threw rocks on volunteers to gain entry”.

BlackEyed Event House also said there was no pressure on KK for the performance. “KK sir gave his best until the end and we, his manager and everyone associated with this show supported him in every way possible in our capacity,” the company added.

Asked why KK was not rushed to hospital from Nazrul Mancha, the company said, “KK showed no symptoms of illness and performed vigorously until the very end. We’ve also seen high performing artists picking up towels to wipe their faces in the past; it does not necessarily indicate that the performer is showing symptoms of illness. After each rigorous show, we see the performers weary and escorted as soon as possible,” the company added.

They said the singer returned to the hotel and took selfies with fans before he fell ill. “His manager also confirmed the same,” the company added.

KK was a multilingual singer who sang in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali, among other languages. The singer fell ill while performing at an event in Kolkata and was taken to CMRI Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was only 54 years old.
