The city of Detroit is poised to become the launching pad for a host of new B2B and B2C events. The June 7 announcement follows the formation of a new partnership between the New York-based company MAD Event management and Messe Düsseldorf North America, which plans to launch and incubate new conferences and shows in Motor City with the support and direction of the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The partnership plans to start with several conferences that have yet to be announced and a large-scale consumer show, with MAD taking care of all sales and marketing and MDNA being in charge of the show’s operations, according to the founder and president of MAD Event Management, Martha Donato. He said the launch pad is the result of a multi-year development plan between his company and DMCVB CEO Claude Molinari.

Donato said choosing Detroit as a home base was an easy decision, as the destination has all the necessary ingredients for a perfect incubator to develop fledgling shows and conferences.

“The convention center is modern and conveniently located in the city center, there is easy access to hotels, an easy entry / exit airport with direct service to most hubs and most importantly, the team is friendly, flexible and willing to work with us on launch events, ”explained Donato. “We were already working on a show launch before the COVID shutdown, so this timeline is a function of the reopening and our optimism about the resumption of business! “
